The holographic information energy contribution to the Universe is derived using the Holographic principle and Landauer's concept. As stars have formed, the information energy density has grown until it is high enough to begin speeding up the universe's expansion. The information energy density may be constrained to a fixed level by feedback from the faster expansion-induced decrease in the star formation rate. The properties of the holographic information energy of the cosmos then closely resemble those needed to solve the cosmic coincidence issue and explain dark energy. In addition, the acceleration period will have a temporal limit.
