Workers operate have significantly transformed with the rise of digitalization and advanced technology. One of the most notable changes is the widespread adoption of "Remote Working" — also known as teleworking, working from home, or flexible work arrangements. These setups allow employees to perform their job duties from locations outside traditional office spaces. While remote work existed before, its adoption surged during the COVID-19 pandemic as organizations sought to maintain productivity amid lockdowns and social distancing measures. Remote work offers several advantages. Research has shown that employees working remotely often report higher levels of job satisfaction and improved performance. The flexibility to manage work schedules and avoid commuting contributes positively to productivity and work-life balance. However, despite these benefits, remote work also presents unique challenges. One of the most critical concerns is the lack of in-person interaction, which can negatively impact both the physical and emotional well-being of employees. Feelings of isolation, difficulty separating work from personal life, and the pressure to be constantly available can lead to increased stress and burnout. While some studies highlight the benefits of remote work, others point to its drawbacks, particularly in relation to employee health and social connection. This divergence in findings indicates that the impact of remote work is not uniform and can vary depending on factors such as industry, individual personality, and organizational support systems. Therefore, understanding the complexities of remote work requires a balanced examination of both its positive and negative aspects. This article aims to explore existing research to better understand the relationship between remote work and employee well-being. By mapping out the varying perspectives, it seeks to provide a more nuanced and comprehensive view that can guide future research and inform workplace policies in an increasingly digital world.
