A nation's social and economic progress can only be achieved via education. Consequently, a detailed and forward-thinking education strategy has become vital and crucial. Instilling such innovative educational ideals in the brains of young people during their formative years is the only way to guarantee their success. Every country in the world has been obsessed with creating effective educational policies, including India, which attempted to do so in 2020 after 34 years. The New Education Policy contrasted traditional values with contemporary scientific culture and included necessary and appropriate modifications to make them adaptable to the needs of the modern world. Based on the suggestions of an expert group led by Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, the former chairman of ISRO, the Indian government announced the New Education Policy. NEP's only goal is to provide a framework for improving education in the subcontinent while taking tradition and culture into account. Its many phases at the school and college levels are then adopted to ensure its effectiveness. After been proclaimed and in effect for about a little over thirty years, the previous education policy is being attempted to be overturned by the current one. In light of the country's variety and size, the new National Education Policy attempts to create a single educational system for the whole country, although it has failed at many levels. In this essay, we have critically examined the difficulties of contemporary Indian education in light of the new policy's implementation, contrasting it with other previously announced policies. We have also put forth some suggestions for how the NEP can be implemented most successfully in order to meet its goals.
